What is a "hot pipe" vs just a tuned pipe?

Are there any onboard remote starters available, that are dependable, or is that "pie in the sky"? Thinking it would be a nice addition to my 5 1/2ft hydroplane.

Yes, dual pick-up. It's 36" from the water pick-ups on the rudder, so I want to make sure it gets enough water.

I see some unlimited/GP style hydroplanes run with the strut (even with flex shaft drive) thru the bottom of the hull, forward of the transom, and others with the strut hanging off the back of the hull. Which is best, or does it depend on the boat?
