Tunnel hull question

I am building an Fe hotshot .45 tunnel. It is the FG version and has a block inside the sponson for a turn fin. My question is should I use it. It seems that none of the tunnels I see have turn fins anymore.

I am pretty sure that the earlier designs required one. I know that my early Prather needed one to turn properly yet my VS1 doesn't. I think you will also find that the earlier designs have hulls that are quite a bit wider than the contemporary hulls do.

Yes its wide for sure.I guess i will mount one and if i dont need it ill pull it off.

How are you going to know if you need one if you start with it? I would think starting without and before drilling holes would be easier way to find out! !!

It was obviously designed to have one but I guess it makes more sense to try without first.

Try to get your inside sponson edge sharp and you may not need the turn fin.

LOL i just did a crapload of work on the hull to get it blueprinted and get sharp edges...hopefully it pays off because it was a major PITA
