strut placement

I will be building a sport 20 boat this winter. I’m thinking either a Thomas or Blazer boat. Bases on pictures I’ve seen, the Thomas boat was designed to have the strut mounted under the boat and the Blazer to be mounted in the transom. My question is has anybody ever reversed the mount points on these boats, and does it change how they handle? I’m in IMPBA so I can go either way.

The SSP21 runs well setup either way. There are several racing this season setup with the rear strut mount. The dist champ in d14 was setup with the strut on the rear.
