Hey guys, I need to make up a few new on-board battery packs... Which battery type is preferred these days...? What's our most reasonable (cheapest) on-line source?

Thanks,

Duane

Got some packs off ebay Allbatteries was the ebay store NIMHD for $ 7.00 a pack 75% cheaper than local hobby shop 2yrs still good. They are supposed to not have memory problems like NICAD. Also bought AAs for transmitter also very good.I wouldn't even mess with making them up myself.

Thanks; I'll check allbatteries. I know the "keep it simple, stupid" rule, but I'm just too stupid to follow it... ;)

I wouldn't normally bother making them up, but since I'm limited to radio box room (using a small-ish box), and also wanting the pack as low profile as it can be, and I'm splitting it up 3+2 with AAAs, so the radio box ends up being balanced side to side (got the servos on one side)... I'm making them up myself. Won't take but an hour to solder up a couple of packs (between beers...)

I got 2/3AA size packs made up, 1100 mah will last me at least 4 heats of racing. If you read up on radio glitch problems they say to keep the batteries as far away from the receiver as possible, something to consider before spilting up your packs. B)

I've been using panasonic 750 and 1100mah NimH packs(6,0volts) sucessfully and able to run all heats with no problems ...I'm sure you can find lot of good brands at very reasonable prices nowadays.

I've gotten good deals from cheapbatterypacks.com, especially when I live so far away from the states, and their prices are still reasonable.

I prefer using Nimh packs as they have more capacity for the same size of cell, plus no memory effect. Am running a sanyo 2500mah receiver pack on my tunnel, used to have it in my saiboat before, never run it out yet.

Hi Guys,

I got some nimh aa cells from an eBayer............ Good deal (I think), bought 2 dozen 2500 Mah aa cells for about $1.35 ea..............

I'm shopping for a charger that will charge 6v packs and individual batteries. the one I have won't " fill up" the 2500 ma cells, but it works for now.

can anyone suggest a good charger for under $100? the LHS showed me a nice one for $160 but that's a little steep for me........

Hey Bob, I just bought some AAAs off an eBay seller for making receiver packs. It was a buy it now; $9.99 for 20 metal hydride AAAs with solder tabs, + $8 to ship. Not too bad for under a buck per cell.

I was looking at allbatteries web site (www.batteryspace.com) for other sizes and chargers...

You might want to have a look there:

CHARGERS

Thanks to everyone for your tips and suggestions!
