I am using 1/8" ss rod for a rudder linkage on a twin. Threading 4-40 both ends. What are the twin guys using on the servo and rudder ends?? Heavy duty Du Bro with safety lock? rock crawler 4-40 ball ends? Nelson heavy duty ball ends? Thanks for any input.

For the rudder I use a 4-40 rod. The threaded end attached to the rudder using a Dubro Monster ball joint. On the servo side (Futaba S5050) I use a Heavy Duty threaded ball connector using a soldered 4-40 coupler. The radio box water seal is a 707 Specialties.

I’m using 1/8” SS rod on my twin for the rudder and it has Nelson HD rod ends on both ends. These are the ones that attach using set screws. I haven’t had any problems yet.

Thanks Jose,it's a RR.

I also use a 4-40 rod with the big ball link at the rudder but use an S bend at the servo through a heavy duty aluminum arm on a Futaba 5301 servo (300oz. @ 6V). S bends do not break, pull free or come un-soldered, something Mr. Finch got me started on. Hmmm, that guy does know a thing or two about boats. :p

cool man,thanks DF.

I've run 1/8" ss rod for years and used to thread the ends 4-40 but found it'll bend right where the thread ends. I now thread the rod 6-32 (no need to turn the ends down) and run a 6-32 tap into the ball links, I like Rocket City, think Sullivan has them now... :)

Ron I use standard Dubro 4-40 clevis ends on 1/8 SS rods threaded on both ends. But I do use a washer on the screw to keep the clevis from ever poping off. Have never had a faliure. I think you maybe able to see some of those washers in the pictures I sent you of the radio box. I use washers on both ends.

Thanks Mark.

Z bend is the way to go like the man said does not come loose, no play in linkage. Use the heavy duty dubro or futaba arm because they are composite. So no radio problems ect. Talk to the plane Kooks. LOL Hell, with a Z bend you can get in tighter places. much cleaner. cost is minimal. Most simple set up. I think I have a picture of my new radio box for my tunnel in my gallery. Absolutly no play on push pull , 3rd channel , throttle ect. I believe once you start using Z bends for servo conections you will not go back.
