k&b 3.5 ss

I have a 3.5 ss that I got here on I T , I am trying to put it back together that's not a problem my question is what direction do I install the head there are marks inside the head in the plug era 5 on one side and 3 on the other

I have. Two ss and was just worndering wht r thoes cuts or marks in the head forand wht do they do?
