Hello All

Here is my JAE FE Build.

I want to Thank Doug Smock, Kent Seal for there awesome JAE Riggers that

I downloaded pictures to get the proper way to set up a JAE from.

Also Tino Almanza for Mo-Knowledge.

I added my own way of doing things to maybe make a good running, long lasting

Rigger I Hope

Here are my pictures:

Shows the .125 thick Carbon Fiber Motor Mount and the .125 Ply

Glue plates for both sides fresh off the CNC machine.

JEA FE Build-02

Shows the parts weighing at .8 of an Ounce.

JAE FE Build-03.jpg

JAE FE Build-03

Shows the stock Motor mount weighing in at 2.2 Ounces.

JAE FE Build-04.jpg

JAE FE Build-04

Parts above all assembled into hull with motor mounted.

JAE FE Build-05.jpg

JAE FE Build-05

Line up tube shown with access to motor screws. Screws require a needle

nose pliers to get them in place, but then they go in pretty easy. Motor mounting

took less than a minute to install all 4 screws..

JAE FE Build-06.jpg

JAE FE Build-06

Carbon Fiber Strut / Rudder back up plate and the Plywood back up plate

That will install inside the hull.

JAE FE Build-07.jpg

JAE FE Build-07

Brass Tube installed into transom for waterproof seals to attach to.

JAE FE Build-15

Hitec HS-645MG servo installed with 4-40 pushrod hooked up.

I will after paint use the Aquacraft radio box seals inside and out onto

the brass tube.

Also Vacuum Fitting hole drilled for antenna

(Thanks D Smock)

JAE FE Build-19.jpg

JAE FE Build-19

Receiver mounted to servo hold down cover.

Water line installed and secured with Ni-chrome wire.

JAE FE Build-21.jpg

JAE FE Build-21

Water outlet fitting installed.

JAE FE Build-22.jpg

JAE FE Build-22

ESC installed, water lines installed and secured with Ni-Chrome wire.

JAE FE Build-23.jpg

JAE FE Build-23

Here I could not get the collars I wanted so I used 2-56 x ¼"

Flat head screws to hold the sponsons in place.

I drilled half way through the solid carbon fiber tube and used a flat

bottom tap to thread the boom tube.

It was a pain but it is very strong.

JAE FE Build-24.jpg

JAE FE Build-24

Overall view of finished JAE….Note the Mike Hughs 7075

Aluminum turn fin….Very nice and very strong.

I can not wait to run it...........

Looking very good!

Hope to build one of these later this year when i get time. ;)

It looks great like usual Joe. I like your idea with the light weight motor mount. Very inventive. I considered doing something similar with mine as the OEM mount seems very bulky/heavy. The only possible downside I see is that your mount will not serve as an additional heat sink to draw heat from the motor. I'm going to mill cooling fins in my OEM mount to lighten it up a bit and to add additional surface area for cooling purposes. It might not matter either way though as there really isn't any airflow traveling over the mount to wick away heat.

Good work!

Very nice.

Any idea if your going to offer these on your site? I just ordered a 21FE and would be interested in shedding some weight... o ya and any news on a JAE 21 boat stand?

Beutiful work as usual. Thats alot of servo for this boat. You gained back some of the weight that the mount saved. You will find that with your current linkage you will have far too much throw on the rudder. I set mine up in the inner most hole on the servo arm and outer most on the rudder and still have to dial back the dual rate.

Hello Mark

I have a goofy thing I do and it is trying to keep one servo model

for 95% (1/4 Scale in my 45 OPC) of my boats....I figure it might be overkill but I like buying

the 645 MG simply because it has never let me down....

Thanks

Joe

Hitec's have been the best servos for me hands down.. used them for years in 1/8 buggy/truggy.

I picked up a 5245mg for my build...
