Mark,

I dont think stiffness is ultra important, but you obviously dont want a hull that bends or twists all over the place! The older style wide tubs with high sides of thick ply tend to be pretty stiff in torsion. The newer hulls with lighter construction, narrow tubs and some with lower sides tend to be less stiff in torsion. In practice tho I dont think there are a lot of twisting loads on a rigger tub. The torque reaction of the prop is taken at the engine which is very close to the front booms where the torque is reacted against the front sponsons. The rudder would create some twisting moment in a turn, but I dont think it would be that great.

If you over lap your upper decking, you will beable to get plenty of strength with out that much extra weight.
