Gotta agree with buckshot on this one.. (maybe not quite so agressively). Do we have to bring this stuff to an RC boat forum? Really? News flash, not everyones political opinions are the same. I know mine arent. It usually does nothing but fuel bickering and arguements. My hobby allows me to get away from all that, except for post's like this.

We need to either:

A: Have an off topic or political forum

Or

B: Close all and not allow any posts that start or turn out political in a RC forum.

There are THOUSANDS of outlets for this type of discussion, but not on an RC boat forum in my opinion.

I agree with you and Buckshot ....just had to vent my frustrations !!!! :)

thank you, james. although i don't have health insurance - group policy at work is stupid amount of money & individual policy for my wife & i at age 57 is just as ridiculous, this ain't the place to deal with it. this is where we try to forget about all that crap.

Personally, I don't mind a civil political discussion. I find other people's opinions and their reasoning interesting to read, even though I may not agree with them.

And the neat thing about a forum, is you don't have to click on the thread and read it if you don't want to. I do that daily with the boating threads on this forum...

If this forum turned into full on politics, that would be bad. But if you want to close/delete all political threads, then shouldn't all off topic threads be deleted??

What he said. I just took my flak jacket off after that Obama Phone thread so I'm staying out of this one.

Go find yourself a nice political forum and post until your fingers fall off as a lot of us don't want to see this crap in here again. Do we need a poll or something to say if we want this stuff in here or not?

Guys,

Like Sean, I don't mind a civil discussion on such topics as this, although, I've even been known to be one of the culprits when it gets a bit non-civil  . As has been already stated, you have the right NOT to click on a post that is, at least in this case (and that of the Obama phone thread, BTW), clearly marked "OT" and what it is about.

This health care bill is going to affect us all if it goes through. There will be many of us who will probably have to quit boating, or at least seriously cut back. What Bill posted is what I would call VERY useful, important, NEED TO KNOW information. This is information that we can use come the next election time, or even to pressure our State Reps to reconsider their choices. I can tell you one thing for sure: No candidate is EVER going to get my vote if he/she votes for this bill, or any bill that even slightly resembles it. Not that there's any real risk of it anyway. I noticed that EVERY rep who voted for it was a Democrat, and I absolutley refuse to vote for the Socialists.

Thanks. Brad.

One republican voted for it too...

But realize, his list could also have the opposite effect with some people (which is fine). That is, if you had no health care, but will now, you might like to know who "helped you out" so you can make a point of voting for them in the future.

Odd thing I find about this bill, is it is set to go into effect in something like 2013...most of the folks that voted for it might not be in office any more by then. Odd...that it is so important, that they wanted to rush it through in a bipartisan manner, but yet not important enough to go into effect imediately...???

BTW, anyone that is younger than 35 and wants free health care can join the military. Then you and your family get it for 20-30 years while you are in and then get it at a cheap rate after you retire (less then 500 dollars a year).

Which leaves me with this thought...if the military health care was a recruitement and retention tool, that got people to join, and kept them in after they joined, for fear of losing their healthcare, what is our country going to need to do to get folks to join, and stay in now?? Give them more $$$$$???

I have said before that I think both parties are full of it.

Those who do not follow whats going on in washington, no matter what side you are on are on, are going to wake up one day and realize your mistake for not doing so. And by then it will be too late.

A well informed public is a responsibility of the public.

This post was not made to bash one side or the other, merely to inform.
