Hi its been a very long time since have logged in here . I recently was gifted this hull , it’s a Excalibur Flat Bottom hull 36” . I am open to suggestions on what to power it with . Stringers where bonded in crooked , so those are going to be replaced . Thanks Paul

Paul, I had one of those in the early 80’s. It was tail heavy the way the instructions said to build it. I would go 13” or mor from transom with mounting motor.. I had a 6.5 exhaust throttle k&b in mine.
I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on a motor for that boat. You could get a 45 motor for it and also if you can find an old k&B .67. This would be a good play boat. Mine did pretty good with the 6.5. But that was a long time ago. Any of these motors would be plenty of power.

A 45 motor that we use today would have more than enough power to power that boat.

thanks Jim

I'd opt for a .45 engine as well (current or vintage brand).

The Dumas SK Daddle 60, a 35 inch flat-bottom, has:
[1] engine (center of glow plug) set @14 inches (just to give you some comparison). So, somewhere between 13.0in and 14.0in should work good.
[2] a keel centerline-mounted (1in long) turn fin, with trailing edge positioned approx 14in from transom (equal to engine CG measurement).
[3] a parallel strut, with prop centerline set at approx 1 1/8in depth.

To me looks like something for a jet drive... Stringers look like complete logs.....That will save you a few pounds removing..

My buddy Abe can do anything in glass / carbon . He’s a concept car body builder for a well known shop . I have a couple jet drives
