is it a good idea for the cooling pickup to be milled into the side of the rudder?

It would ruduce drag but does it work as good?

Davo.....it's always worked fine for me. I actually reduce the amount of cooling that comes off the rudder pickup.

Been running them that way for years & like Kevin says I typically restrict the flow. It has WAY less drag than a seperate water pick up. Not to mention those seperate pickups can cause adverse affects in handling (especially monos) & slow you down. We found a 3mph (on radar gun) drop with adding a seperate water pickup on the back of a gas cat.
