best guess

Hey guys, best guess on how deep to run a speedmaster rudder on the rear end off a sport 40 hydro. it measures 5 1/2" stock and looks way too deep?

ps-- the water still pretty hard here in Michigan John

Who's hull is it?? My Phil Thomas sport 40 measures 3 3/4" fron bottom of transom to bottom of rudder blade.

Don, its the dumas AVL U-l hull! measured the rudder tonight 3 3/4 still looks pretty deep?? But you know a whole lot more than me thanks John

Every hull is different but I'd try it & if you need to shorten it just go a little at a time.

I run Speedmaster 3.5 rudder on Marks Mutt. Bottom of hull to the bottom of the rudder 2 7/8

I sharpen all my rudders to a knife point at the bottom, not too much on the Mutt.

now that I understand the question. A day late and a nickels short :lol: :lol: :lol:

My Sport 40 blade is at 4 inches. I'll be grinding a little off. It's slightly too deep at 4 inches.
