Just arriver in today's(9/6) FedEx delivery....only 3 days...my hat is off to Joe and the gang at Zippkits...awesome service...thank you very much....
The best part about this build....if you built a Zippkits before then the build jig(table) in my case is already done...i built the Crackerbox on a 12x48" poplar work surface...so I saved it and its back in action...everything is packed tight and very well...fiberglass cowl.....perfect!!..
So thanks to Bob Zola....Bob Londress and the many at impba dist 12 Delmarva Club for the inspiration.. Enough yaking...build time

There a fun build, Mine is just about read for paint Make sure to us a really stiff build board base especially while installing the upper decks or You'll twist the hull I used 2 pieces 3/4 MDF because of its stability . Have Fun

The notch in the base board is for the stuffing tube so the hull sit's flat on the board while installing the upper skins

The worst part of the build was the upper deck sponson skins getting the to lay down right with out any gaps at the chin's TONS OF CLAMPS the masking tape method they used just would not hold it in place

Tom..do you any pics of the sponson sheeting that wraps up to the nose..
I have the rear non trip sheet In place..sanding the front spray rails to accept the sponson sheeting....time to work on the biceps..

Well its off the building jig...sanded with 80 grit and getting ready for the interior sealing and fiberglass. All areas will get glassed

I'm 22 hours in on this build...all interior is glassed and sealed, hardware kit is ordered and as far as the sponson tops....i will first wet them with an alcohol/water mix then set in place with clamps and allow to dry this should help with the compound curve and gluing process...then seal the interior side of the top sponson skin and epoxy into place.

You can try what Don F called the Frankenstein approach, it worked for me.14821-0a3eb8f9035997b97a306f461a3afc4b.jpg

Hardware kit arrived. And I modified the build stand to hold the hull for top decking...1/4" x 1" steel bar screwed to the building board then boat frame is clamped to the bars to remain absolutely flat.

Brian...i just came across your build on FB....
Awesome...hope you don't mind if I "borrow" a few of your ideas and methods...
[/QUOTE Absolutely man!!! Great looking build by the way!!! Can’t wait to see her all done you for you !! Keep the build pics coming !!

Well the build is progressing...i ordered a bottle of white coloring pigment from Jamestown distribution(total boat) and it arrived in 2 days..i mixed it with finishing resin for the second sealing coat in the main hull area...it turned out ok...slightly less than my expectations...not because of the product...i wanted the "gel coat" look and I have some fiberglass weave strays that made the second coat slightly less than perfect, but its super smooth...read the instructions carefully and follow the steps...the motor mount isolation mounts if not done before the top deck sheeting is in place will be almost impossible to install...the stuffing tube is cut and fitted and will epoxy in place today..
Also the sponson sheeting...well I did wet the sheeting and clamped in place to dry...the results didn't do much...so its tape and clamps just like everyone else...and foam flotation...i may purchace some 2 part urathane closed cell expanding type....not the home depot type...or just cut and fit XPS green foam I already have..not as fancy but will work just fine...thats it for now...

Thanks Brian....i dont think great is the right word..how about......good...yours however is Great....i just hope I do a job close to what you showed as an example...you set the bar kinda high....

Hello everyone...
I'm dragging my feet on attaching the top decking...i installed and shaped the sponson flotation from blue XPS from Lowes that I think I installed prematurely, taping the top decks will be interesting at this point...but also in looking at the turn fin...i did a search on turn fin sharpening...found some old info but I will need some input from others on this...

Hey believe me I also do the same!! But that’s what makes it fun and also helps to learn or think of new ways to do or overcome an issue... I wish we all had mill or Cnc lol be much easier!! But hey the average tools we own will get the job do too!! All great jobs and outcomes take time!! But in the end it shows and pays off big time

Well some where in the instruction book it says..."do whatever is nessesary"....i think I got that covered....i will allow to cure until tomorrow then fit the center deck and epoxy in place...
I think the next build will be done all in wood glue then coated with finishing resin...all except the sponsons...those must be sealed prior to closing up...but its coming along
