3.5 or 7.5 outboard on a 32" deep vee?

Hi,

I am new to the sport and have built a Dumas deep vee 40. It is 32" long and is built very stable, it has been reinforced inside with fiberglass strips. I want to get as much out of it as possible. What are the pros and cons of both 3.5 and 7.5 outboards. I was leaning toward the 7.5 for the power but I dont want to sacrafice the handling. I do not intend on racing this is just for fun. Any info would help.
