    700BB 8.4 from fastelectrics v SS1

I believe the motors are the same myself... However some may stick on the magnet issue as when the SS1 was released it was touted by some (not Chris) boaters as having a "special mix" Neodymium magnet that was more heat resistant than the ones used in the 9.6 NEO motors. To my knowledged a...

Pics of the new 700 BB 8.4v

I have used that "fix" on a few different setups with mixed results. In at least one boat (cut down Electro Vee) the front bearing of the motor will get very hot and there was no noticeable performance increase from the boat in race trim. On a couple occasions the motor almost seemed to run...

Pics of the new 700 BB 8.4v

...lol One thing I do need to ask, and I don't expect to get a clear answer from anyone but it needs to be asked. Why, if you will go through the pains of selecting magnets, armature, brushes then supposedly purchase the volume necessary to keep that over design exclusive... Would you leave a...

    This Electric Stuff Is FUN!

22" boat? How wide is it (beam)? The nice thing about making your own is that you can experiment, and reshape them until you find the right size. Start with something like 1 1/4-1/2" wide and 1-1 1/4" long. You may be able to start with servo tape to mount them, then when you know how wide...

    This Electric Stuff Is FUN!

If the tabs are in the water while on plane... After that they can help the boat "fly" and keep the air under control. On my LS Offshore boat I have the inside edge of the tabs cut at a angle. More tab in the water at lower speeds, very little if any in the water while on plane and smooth water.

    This Electric Stuff Is FUN!

...and create drag? That will definitely keep the nose down, but canwill make it run to wet and lose speed. ;) Get some light aluminum and make your own tabs. I've had similar problems on a few hulls. Tabs, even set neutral elliminated the problem. The first thing I'd check however, is...

    This Electric Stuff Is FUN!

A picture to give you ideas on home built hardware. The pic shows a Hughey strut and Fuller's wedge rudder. While this is for a 27" Electro Vee it will give you some idea's. I'd try a smaller prop submerged first however. Pick up a couple plastic x431 or y531's to try if you have an 1/8"...

    Edina Model Yacht Club

I'd have to admit our primary focus has become the LS Offshore and Hydro classes, just too **** much fun. However, the LS Mono is a fun "quick" race for 4 laps. Depending on the hull, the prop size can vary quite a bit. If I set my Oval master up to finish 5 laps, 4 lap race plus J start and...

    Bringing old engine to life?

Haven't seen one of those in 10-15 years... If I remember correctly, it's a sealed can? Meaning that you can't remove the end bell. If that's the case you have your work cut out for you if the motor is locked up I'd give up on it. Otherwise you can try soaking it with lots of motor cleaner...

    Edina Model Yacht Club

We're looking forward to it! We'll also do more work locally to advertise the event and hook some more locals perhaps. With the first year of racing across Edina, Mazo, and Batavia we can progress towards a Midwest series. LS Offshore could be considered our "club spec" now with LS Hydro...

    First powered Boat Help needed

Ain't nothing wrong with an Electro Vee hull for $25 at Hobby-Lobby or the FDM Force 21 or 22 hulls for $30 at Fine Design. The EV hull is a great hull for 12 cell racing and all around abuse. The Force hulls are great for N-1 and even N-2 or our LS Mono class at Edina Model Yacht Club. Above...

    Fuller - club sponsorship

Ray dropped this note on RC Groups... Starting this year I will spend my sponsoring bucks on local race clubs in the usa and canada. This is where 90% of my orders come from not the big events . So if you guys from all the small clubs register with me and let me know how I can help , I will...
