Cheers guys, I am glad the outboards are done and i can move onto the rest of the build. Like anything we do in this hobby it can be very frustrating and time consuming, but the end result is worth it.

I think you need to use you brain before you post, that way you don't come across as a fool

Cheers mate, Their are so many cowl shapes and designs used today, the purpose of this build was to give a scale like appearance to the outboards. The function and form of the shape was also dictated by the brushless motors and how they fit into the complete cowl, keeping in mind wire routing...

I don't think it would fit to well on the OS because of the angle of the motor mount plate, this may cause trouble with the clearence of the cowl and transom. You would have to look at moving the steering arms as well, but like anything you could make it fit with some modifications and know how.

Do you need to have the steering push rods running level from the servo to the outboard steering arms, can you get away with some drop or angle from the outboard steering arms down to the servo. Cheers

Cheers mate I am very impressed with the quality and workmanship that has gone into designing the outboard cowls, this project would not come together unless I had the right cowls for the outboards.

Here are some pics of the outboard, the outboard will sit a lot further back from the transom with the proper outboard mount installed. This will give you an idea of what it will look like, just need to get the decals sorted.

From the inside going out the dimension are about 74 mm, 85 mm, 89 mm, I am using an outrunner with 48.9 mm diameter can.

This is the first test cowl out of the mould that was sent to me from Evolution Rc for a test fit,

Didn't know that, but it wouldn't help as the shaft has a tapered shoulder that extends about 4 mm from the front of the can. It has a 8 mm shaft that is milled to 5 mm as exits the can. All good now, cut it down to the right length and it fits together perfectly.

Thanks mate, the reason I ask is I have to cut the shaft of the motor as its too long so was trying to gauge the right length. Just trying to get it right the first time lol.

The coupler that joins the brushless motor shaft to the flex on 3.5 K&B, how much of a gap do you leave between the coupler and where the flex exits the top of the outboard. Obvious you need to have some space so the coupler doesn't rub on the outboard top plate, but what are people setting that...
