    Near new Aeromarine SprintCat

    B) Have decommissioned the digital camera. However as I've now taken the boat to a Hobby Shop (Ace Models) on consignment, means the FS on these forums has to be made redundant. If anyone is interested, Scott can be contacted at Ace Models, Midland on 08 9274 4519. Additional to previous...

    Near new Aeromarine SprintCat

Yep changing hobbies, making plans to take delivery of a 52 foot Riviera flybridge convertable, so with its $900k price tag I'm needing some fuel money.. The SprintCat's a reluctant sale, be one of the better ones over here. If you know anyone interested let me know.

    Speed Secrets

I've had no trouble with the current square drive set-up but used conventional collets previously. Went the square drive because of the regular front engine bearing replacements...

    fiberglass resin

I used polyester resin for 20 years, but now I wouldn't use anything other than epoxy resin. It is a superior product IMO, however its consistency means it takes different skills to handle. You can add grit or glass powder to thicken the mixture into a paste, but I've found that this does...

Refining Pipe Length for CMB 1.0

Thanks The props are just sharpened and balanced. Yes the Cat has quite a bit of drag as I found out last week swimming after it for 50m and pushing it back to shore!! As suggested I will take more out of the pipe. I think part of my problem is perception as I'm used to a 7.5cc that has been...

Refining Pipe Length for CMB 1.0

SprintCat with a Prather S265 prop. Having tried a number of props this seems to be the best so far. Just found it unusual that going from over 13 inchs to 12 1/4 didn't make as much difference as I would have liked. Motor really sounds like it is a few 1000 rpm short of its optimum.

Refining Pipe Length for CMB 1.0

I'm still trying to get this motor to rev a little harder, have tried pipe length (unsilenced CMB pipe) in the range of 12 1/4-13 inches. Can those who are running this motor let me know what pipe length has worked best for them?

    delete

Recently I used a 1:3 premium epoxy resin instead of polyester. Found it worked a lot better. Also paid extra for 3 direction glass matt - very strong and thick. Don't forget to rough file or sand with heavy grit the tube for extra hold.

    Displacement Size

Changing capacity limits from 1.8 to 2.0 makes no difference to accident probablity. Life just doesn't work like that. How anyone of sound mind could think that it would, really cracks me up. And if this is the reason for IMPBA refusing to address the issue, then it is backward for this...

How to get a CMB1.0 going better

Yeah agreed that's the way information workds. Given regard to the fact that it is a Cat, different atmospheric conditions here, etc etc. My final plans are: Leave the piston as it is; Set the rotor clearance to 0.002"; Timing to 190/130/130, but if I see it's already close to that then go...

How to get a CMB1.0 going better

Thanks guys all good information there. As to which way to go with it I will put all this information to one of the local engine builders and come up with a strategy. I'll probably not go too radical on timing mainly because in my experience with other motors the crankiness can be hard to live...

How to get a CMB1.0 going better

Thanks Don, the chart looks a treat. No mention of the 1.0 only the 90. Do you happen to know if the timings are the same?

How to get a CMB1.0 going better

Thanks guys some great advice there for me to try. Do I infer that that the CMB non-silenced pipe is a no-go? It's currently set at 31cm.. Yes running the water cooled header, and the motor is a single plug not sure of the current head clearance figures but it was checked by a local engine...

How to get a CMB1.0 going better

The CMB1.0 in the SprintCat has been running well (about 60mph) but now I'm wanting more out of it. Seems to me these motors are a bit on the lazy side, perhaps they are not meant to do big revs. Anyway, I've tried various props and pipe settings, and these are as optimised as they can be. So...

    CMB Remote mixture

Thanks guys, I thought about Tony Grinter but didn't see them in his catalogue. I'll do it that way. Cheers
