Use TOTAL BOAT 2 part PENETRATING Epoxy as a sealer. It is thin and designed to penetrate the would. Then sand and then spray,I use PPG, clear. Gets rid of the grain Sand 400/600 then spray paint. The penetrating epoxy is at Jamestown

I quit using WD 40. It has a very very fine abrasive material in it. That’s why it works so well on a stuck or rusted hinge Have been using Nut Case spray as a flush then Corrosion X.
