A lathe tool bit is used to machine ball ends. A Holdridge Radii-Cutter Tool Model 3S can also be used. This expensive tool, which uses carbide cutters; can cut covex & concave radii from 0 to3 in's, with an excellent finish. This tool needs at least a 10 in swing lathe to be adapted easily.
