Engine building 021.jpg

Crankcases have been machined from aluminum alloys 2024 T-351 & 7075 T-651. Several crankcases were machined from 12L14 LEDLOY steel & used for dyno testing only. Different transfer shapes; number of transfers; entry angles & depths were tested. After many hours of testing, I can only say, without any doubt, that bigger area transfers don't necessarily mean more HP & steel runs faster than aluminum. The dark colored crankcase, second from the right, on the bottom, is made of steel.
