The screws in the port runner secure a filler plate that reduces the depth (and thus volume) of late model MAC67 cases. The volume reduction increases the pumping efficiency of the motor and improves torque and accelleration. This mod is a real PITA, and Rod swears he will never do it again, but it is very effective. I have both motors that Rod performed this artristy on.
