It may be just me, but I just dont get why the bother racing trucks here. Its always the same deal, nothing but a BUNCH of torn up trucks $$$$$$

Back in the day.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9fB1IcTD48
i remember when they were grand national & sportsman cars. first daytona 500 "speedweeks" i went to still had a convertible class & a six cylinder class. drivers played the radio (the am one in the dash), & had a pack of smokes rolled up in the sleeve of their white t-shirts. back then they were STOCK cars. if you got in a wreck, all trim & moldings had to be replaced before you could continue the race. racing tires??? yeah, right - put about 50 psi in them old bias plys & pray. most cars had a trap door cut into the passenger floor board, so the driver could lean over & open it up to check the r/f tire.

IMHO this will be ugly ... I wonder how many cars will go to the back of the pack due to wrecks in qualifying ? ?

In reality there should be better running cars running closer to the qualifying times seems how they get to run with other cars.. But it could also be a mess...

I guess the part I really don't understand is the 5 minute breaks... Can they bump draft and how will the police that??

That was my very first thought-

I understand their motivation, frankly qualifying is "was" boring as hell from a TV RATING$ standpoint , that ought to filter a few more bucks into Nascars pockets alone, not to mention a few more azzes in the seats on Fridays= mo $$$$
