Aha yes the dredded Tommy Tipover..

Im not sure setting the boat helps that much.. the XTR21 for instance rolls over near or past the apex.

I have a new XT460 hull.. sence my Rinker got smoked this last weekend it might have to come out to play.

Grim
Grim,

I cut the fuel tank shelf open on my XTR-21 and lowered the tank in the hull,it cured it from rolling, but it then would spin out at the worst possible times...Like when i was leading a heat.

I cured it from that problem with a new setup. I set it up on a shelf and started running a Nemesis.

Grim,

I hope you do start racing the LeeCraft 460!!!! I would live to see them make a huge "re-entry" in tunnel racing. I raced the xt120 for two years in the mid 90's with a lot of success. I just finished building an XTR 120 and I can tell you it is much more stable in the mod class than the XT and is showing promise, even with the K&B. Now that there seems to be a B Stock class at every race, I would like to find an XT120 to experiment.

Larry,

Want to try a new setup on the LeeCraft? Why don't you "set me up" with the boat? I'll take it off your hands........ ;)

What exactly changed from the XT to the XTR?

Lacking in LeeCraft knowledge here.....

Ron what motor are you running in B-mod? On your Lee?

I dont think that any thing changed, I Have both, I think that they might just added the R because it is being made by someone other then Tommy, so you would know what generation of the Lee craft. I'm just guessing, cause I cant physically see any difference.

Ok, I just remember at the B&M LeeCraft site, Richard Hazlewoods race mods......

For the XT were covering ride surfaces with 1/32" ply and increasing inner edge right sponson 1/8"

Thought maybe it was different on the XTR,

Yeah Gene I dont know what Hazleewood was up too, He and his family are good friends, When I raced in Needles at his races We always won there, and did nothing other then blue print the hull the way we do. The boat runs fine for me the way it is, but you have to know its characteristics which is not a easy boat to learn.

I got my XTR right from Tommy..

Grim... the XT had an (open cockpit) and the XTR a closed (or you could do what ever with it)

Im not sure about the bottom.. I suspect he removed some of the dihedral from the tunnel.

Grim

Oh so the XT was the old style, Thats good to know, Thanks Grim, I did not think that the old open cock pit was still being used. I was thinking that the question was pertaining to , did they do some thing different or changed the boat a little from the way it was first made from Tommy, that make sense.

Ron, Dick told me your Mod B Leecraft was rather impressive last weekend. Wish I could have made the race, Mike Luszcz

Gene,

The xtr120 is longer, wider beam, and minor changes to tunnel, sponson angles, and CG. It is much better suited for the 21 mod motor.

I am running my old setup...., K&B I built and modified from scratch, and the EQUI pipe.

Gene,

I ran the original LeeCraft XT120 in the 90's. I have taken photos of photos for you to see. I also took photos of my current LeeCraft XTR120. You can see the obvious differences in the top deck and cowl. The XT120 was also shorter and had the other differences I mentioned earlier. There was not a stock class back in those days but I am positive the XT120 would be an awesome hull for stock class. I wish I had this boat back today as it was stolen. Look closely at the old pics and you will see I was using a needle in the carb retaining screw holes and 707 specialties blade exhaust throttle. It leaked some but the power was incredible at the time.

Mike,

I was talking about you with Dick today. I really look forward to meeting you as Dick told me a lot about your love of electrics and boats in general. You don't live that far from me as I am in Wake Forest. My oldest daughter is going to ECU so I am in your area a lot. I appreciate your comments and I wish you could have made the race. We had a blast!!!! Keep in touch....... ;)

Yes,

These were the molds from the original LeeCraft 20 tunnel that was before the original XT120. I just purchased these molds from Joe Scott and I am looking forward to getting someone to build a couple of boats from them. The hull made from these molds by Tommy was the first LeeCraft I ever owned after I sold my first tunnel, (don't laugh.... ), Prather Lapcat II.......hahahahahaha.
