Talked to Billy Schumacher today per the U37. He told me that the Beacon sponsorship is gone for 2009. He told me they we working on a new sponsor and he would like to keep the boat all yellow. But there will not be a new boat for the 37 team in 09. :( Doug

That is GOOD news!!

Hey atleast the boat is not for sale as has been rumored and talked about lately. According to a few the team is laid off and the boat for sale.

I think this article in the Madison courier says it all.......Too bad, I thought Billy & Jane were great for the sport!!

Did not take much time to get the answer:

“Jane and I have decided to pursue other interests and have been trying to sell the U-37. We have lost Beacon (Plumbing) as a sponsor but we are presently speaking with a couple potentials that are showing some interest ... Our team is still together and they are looking forward to racing next year. If we do not find a buyer and we do find a sponsor, then Jane and I will race the U-37 until we do find a buyer.” U-37 owner Billy Schumacherhttp://madisoncourier.com/main.asp?SectionID=18&SubSectionID=289&ArticleID=47254

Too Bad !!!!!!!!! v

The paper here said the Elam is dropping out too. Anybody know if that is true?

Please post a link to the paper you are referring to. I'd really like to read that one!

Looks like it might be a pretty thin fleet next year!

Dan

Thanks for clearing that up Dan, because the last time I talked with Billy, he told me he selling out, like the article says.

Like I said...atleast we got the info straight from the source, and public.

It sucks for us hardcore unlimited fans right now and Billy leaving the sport is just another indication that we are indeed in trouible. Think about it....they are just toys anymore and by no means turn a profit. In troubled time the toys are the first to go!

What do you think Joe.....could we be in for the smallest ever Gold Cup fleet next year?
