Brad,

Send me your address I can help you in the propeller department.

Do you have a 1427 raw in the bag sitting around? Send it to me

if you can? I can order a half dozen of them tomorrow.

Thanks,

I have cut up my only 1427. I do have a untouched 1735 would need to be drawn

down to a 1725 for the engine to handle the load.

The first 1427 modified effort (per post #36) proved to be too much load and the engine

bogged down and died within 25ft the large rounded tips require too much torque

from the wee engine. I had two choices {shown in the pic below) and went with the easy

reduction that insures lift. In hindsight a complete reworking of the leading

edge would have provided a tighter thrust cone as forward speed was lost for a

nicely held up tail in the passes. I plan to cut in some rake next to up the rpm to

39 -40k ish and tighten up the thrust.

Tonight I put in a flat spot on the strut to help the prop out and filed a sharp edge

on stock silver anodized rudder. Took off the turn fin and improved the rush job

when originally fabricating it. The transition to the original thickness is not visible at all now.

These efforts today should show up on Saturday, will be using a radar gun to confirm my

Doppler software analysis from Sunday.

Modified 0930 for 43k rpm good for flat dead water keeping a constant load on the engine.

Now 0927.5 should do around 40 mph will turn fast no bogging down for up close running

a tight course with constant screaming rpm to enjoy.

Has anyone tried to retrofit this electric Hobby King wood kit with an IC engine?

Size makes for a quick trip to a near by pond with minimum fuss / time.

20.75" L x 16.75" W (prop to sponson tip)

Shown with a AP .09 / Utckam 1.5cc tuned pipe.

Comparison to the Picco .85cc rigger.

Wood is lite weight ply only good for sub .45hp / 340w engines

unless beefed up. I plan to epoxy coat inside and out to give it

some strength.
