As a member living in Australia it is probably fitting that somebody from "Down Under" issues a collective Happy New Year to those of you who mostly bring the New Year in many hours and hours after we do. We are by no means the first to celebrate - that honour belongs to Kiritimati Island followed by Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and several other Pacific Island countries but if you live in New York on Sunday morning ring somebody in Sydney and ask them how 2024 is going so far !

PS - I live in Queensland and thanks to a quirk in Daylight Saving I get to watch Sydney New Year Celebrations on TV an hour before my own State capital Brisbane celebrates. I then go to bed, sleep for 8-9 hours and watch the New York festivities "live" the next day. Mind blown.
