For those of you asking…

My P Spec Tunnel and information regarding it as I ran it at the World Championships.

Hull: TSX.. it’s a boat we have been working on for some time.. Brian Buaas did the radio box and set the boat up for some testing we did some time ago.

Im going to list tower links here but the good news is everything but the hull and coupler can be purchased at your LHS

All the electronics except the motor are in a enclosed box (tape) Its really is best to avoid getting your lipos wet..

I used our AquaCraft 2030 motor from the UL-1 as well as the ESC.. I did however place a 35V 2200uf cap on the ESC just in case.

this cooler

I used a fuller square drive for 150 cable for the motor to shaft coupler

I used a OS lower Unit

The motor plate and stand offs were made by me and its was very easy to convert

I used a Great Planes 5000mah 20C 14.8V Lipo

I charged with my ever trusty Polycharge 4

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...LXKAU0&P=ML

and used these balancers for my pack

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXMGS7&P=M

I used our trusty Tactic radio system to guide the boat

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...LXWRP3&P=ML

I used a Octura M445 prop but feel I might have missed on this a tad.. Testing has shown that the Grimracer 42X55 with some cup is WICKED fast on this setup.

I don’t have a RTR weight but its close to 6lbs.. the speed on the boat as raced was just shy of 50mph

Questions let me know

Grim or any other FE at the tunnels ,

How many battery packs did you need to get through the weekend ?

Is there anyway someone can re-post th FE seminar that was held at Charelston?

just curious

Ed,

I brought 4 packs (mine are 4S) but only used two. Two is more then enought..

Depending on time between heats one migth be able to get away with one.

Hey Ed,

I taped the FE seminar but the audio is crap, alot of boats screamin around and people talking. In the process of transcripting the whole thing and will post when I get done. Man Grim knows his stuff, alot of useful info for someone getting into this side of rc boat racing, cool stuff. I'll have me one. All four boats at the WTC ran great, but Grim's seemed to pull the rest a little :) Thanks Grim for doing that seminar,

Doug

Thanks for theinfo guys . Lipos are all new to me and I'm sure alot of us . nicad or Nimh I did in cars befre so I can handle all the stuff with those. I'm thinking FE would be a better way to get my boys (3) more interested with the boats . Won't stall ..... unless battery dies .As long as itys upright I would think you could just keep diggin

Thanks again for more info

Ed,

My FE Tunnel, currently a 28" WoodStuff with ProBoat BlackJack 26 Motor and ESC, uses 2400mah in a race on the 1/6th mile course. I use 1 5300mah pack and charge it between heats... takes about 40-minutes to charge at a mile 1C charge rate (5.3amps)... could easily and safely be charged at 10-amps if I needed it to charge faster. I've been using the same pack for well over season. I carry a spare pack just in case, but the packs never get over 135-degrees, which is reasonable...

Even though you don't need it, stick with the larger mah packs... they hold their voltage under load longer through the discharge than smaller mah packs, which equates to more RPM longer into the race... the packs also last longer.

I'm looking forward to more people getting into these boats! They are a blast to race.

I run the backjack motor also on my converted villain S1 electric.

Wonder what prop you found best to run on it.

Thanks for that...

email sent mate.

Will have to try more props in my selection. Ive basically just left a texis cut 442 prop on there for the time being as it just seams to go ok and i get heaps of run time. Since this boat is only a play boat now. Latest tunnel is being built is for racing.
