Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 86 & 87 Bud? Im working on one from Aeromarine. I also need to know where to get 1/8th scale capsule drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Phil Thomas has drivers.

The 1986 Bud was actually the converted 1984 Lite Allstar. It was extensively rebuilt and had Jones sponsons installed on it. It has a much blunter nose to the cockpit and also has deep cutouts in the transom, leaving the turbine tube area and prop several feet extended beyond the cutouts.

I have enclosed two pics to show the difference. The picture of the latter boat is from 1987 it shows the difference in noses and transom areas.

The Aeromarine kits is based on the 1986 boat.

Well it won't let me add my photes so go here.

Thanks Harry,

I really appreciate all your help

Anytime, glad to help. However I did you a disservice, the pic I posted as the 87 boat is actually the 89 (T-3) boat. I will fix that tonight. The 87 boat has a nose that is even longer than that shown in the picture.

OK, I have updated and renamed the files. If you click on the 1987 link above, you will get the right boat.

I have also added another picture of the 1986 boat for you. This pic is a little different than most as it shows the boat running the "delta wing."

Here is a picture actually from 1987 that David Newton has posted of the boat.

The boat is a little worse for the wear in this shot, but the nose is still there.

Thanks Harry

That really helps.

Hi Rick,

Yes,we've been wanting to get into scale for a while. We should be in Brandon early Friday morning, looking forward to seeing you there.

Gene

I see that David also posted some pretty good pictures of the 1986 boat. This one in [articular shows the cutouts I was mentioning.

1986 Transom

You might want to look at all the pics he has in this series. A lot of good pics of the 1986 boat. Both the Delta and the regular wing. I think every shot you could want is there.
