    more harm than good

After the days running with my outboards, I start the engine with whatever fuel is left in the tank. I then idle it down and pull the fuel line off the carb and throttle the engine so it doesn't rev too high. I then start squirting wd-40 in the oil lubrication holes at the top of the bearing...

    3-Bladed props = more speed?

I find the rule of thumb to be: A 3 blade is like running the equivalent to one size larger in number. A 437/3 is like a 440. A 440/3 is like a 442. A 457/3 is like a 460,etc. This is just how they load the engine. Generally the 3 blades are smoother and faster in the corners as they are more...

    OB Hydro Tuning...?

Is the engine completly stock? I used to run a 707 products slide exhaust throttle and the needle for the venturi. You remove the carb and insert the needle where the 2 screws were to hold the carb in. With this set-up you need to run crankcase pressure which is tapped through the side of the...

    Can YOU identify this boat?

Looks like the old original dumas 3.5 tunnel with the front end cut out to form the picklefork design. I did this back in the late 70's with a dumas kit.

I use a piece of glass which just happens to be the top of my workbench (1/2" thick, I build control-line stunt aircraft) and place the boat on the glass and set the engine propshaft bottom above the running surface of the hull. Set it parrallel with the running surface of the sponsons and your...

    Engine Question

Mbrater, Make sure the prop is the right size. As Jerry says, an x-447 is a good starting point. I run,as most competition guys do at least 40-50% nitro fuel. Make sure you have adequate oil in the fuel. In the pro engine I have found the sig 45% nitro,24% oil to be the best. The engine runs...
