    Boom tube collars pulling out

I plug the ends of the aluminum inserts first . Then rough up like Ron said . Coat the insides of the hole with glue real good and then insert the tubes. Also before I glue the tops of the sponsons I slit the foam and insert a square of 1/8 Inch lite ply about 3/8 inches in front of where the...

    Band saw blade suggestions

I just have a Sears 10" band saw that I've used for many years. The metal cutting blades seem to work great on all wood used for RC boats. As far as being acurate, I've found that the set up of the band saw or table saw is of utmost importance for a good clean accurate cut. Don ;)

    NOT another JAE 12

Hi Grim, long time no talk to! The same kind I used on the Riptide. A Hughey blade rudder stainless steel with a mount I made. Take a look at the website on my last post. The rear end will be exactly the same! Still using your tanks! Don ;)

    NOT another JAE 12

You're right Ron! I used the formula U paint only ( no clear coat) on my very first boat in 1976 ( a .67 Wing Ding) with 60% nitro. It wasn't very fast but looked great! It would be super to get together and talk design. I love to design . Don ;)

    NOT another JAE 12

Thank's guys, Attached is a photo of the paint and finish on the tub. I'm not sure what the actual name is but it's just a dark gray. The finish is poyurethane Formula U which isn't made anymore but I had an old can of it in my work shop. I've found that it holds up well but I always use a...

    New Crapshooter in my fleet

Some of the CS's may have had an offset strut back in the 70s but not all for sure. That looks like a normal 67 shooter but there was also a sprint 67 that was 36". Offsetting the strut to the left side with the turn fin creating drag on the right side will actually keep the boat from turning...

    .12 Texan

Glenn Have you ever tried the 1/8 Carbon fiber / end grain balsa? Very strong for sides! I also use ball bearings on one of my boats. Custon Made. Don

    Curved - turn fin

I think he's talking about very choppy water conditions compared to smooth water with a curved fin. "Too much" bend could be a real problem in rough water conditions! Just my 2 cents, Don <_<

    Where did YOU start

My first boat was a Wingding 60 rigger with a OS 67. I built it in a one beadroom appartment and finished it one year later after we had moved into our first house. That's 33 years ago. B)
