Maybe the nitro guys out west could put on a western event. Vegas is 2000 mile away from Florida. That isn't going to happen. Huntsville would get the biggest draw.

There is no perfect solution. And everything has to start somewhere.

Yes Danny and the largest concentration of Big Block Nitro racers live East of the Mississippi.

Dallas, Texas may be geographically central, but when looking at the concentrated racer locations, Huntsville is a fair location.

I think once the race is established it could move to different locations just as the Nations do.

It will be difficult for the West Coast boaters to put on a successful, large nitro big block and nitro twin event. This weekend one of the largest scale events will be held near Seattle. Southern California holds very large gas races. But, few are actually racing big nitro engines and twins.

Unless the twin guys from the midwest and east coast want to travel, you would have trouble getting 30 big block nitro boats on the west coast.

I'm all for a nitro only event for big block hydros and twins. Montana is only a 4 days drive to the southeast. But, I will be there. Just schedule where and when.

Bummer on the Shasta thing David. It was your idea first,,where then in these golden brown states?
Just an example of active locations in the far west:

Legg Lake, South El Monte (Southern California- District 19); Lake Minden, Nicolaus (Northern California- District 9); Sunset Park , Las Vegas Nevada (District 19); San Diego Model Yacht Pond, San Diego (Southern California, District 19); Archer Lake, Tucson Arizona (District 19); Kiwanis Park, Tempe Arizona (District 19), etc.,...

To be honest I'm not sure if they even run rc boats in the Shasta recreational area in general?
Lake Minden Looks very nice. Remember seeing those signs along 5 as I passed thru. Sac international right there for the long haul. plenty of lodging onsite and off. Awesome food in Roseville, Can attest. Hobby stores scattered around Sacramento.

I like your spirit Al. You have some nearby Canadian friends that have a good bunch of Big Blocks. Start a caravan heading South!

Maybe an award for "Best of Show" for best looking boat, Engineering, Finish, Craftsmanship.

That way we have more than just a "big fast boat" race.

The Ugly beat up boats are often the fastest. Maybe that's why we need an award for the "Pretty" boats too!

Well I call it the clown car now.

Duck tap holding the sponsons together.

Aluminum angle on the front boom tube bulk head and tub.

Frankenstein screws on the eng bulk head.

Patch in the side of the tub from a big hole.

The bottom of the radio box patched in and a few epoxy puddles on the top to fill in prop gouges.

The worst part is when it was humped by Jereme's Twin .45 not a pretty sight.

I think I can get one more race season out of it If the VAC 1.05 dose not break it in half next year.

I think I will just plate the whole side with aluminum and call it a day.

Nice park. 2 boats in the water,,with google earth. Would really like to check out that Huntsville Museum, Shuttle on a stick,,all that. A mountain of red mudbugs done right and adult beverages. One for the bucket list.

Andy, you can put me down for Admin, Pit Boss, Retrieve, and CD stuff if it happens in Huntsville.

Okay... Huhhhhhh....

I haven't tuned into IW in like forever. Andy turned me on to this post. All I know is the last time (a couple of months ago) I set my sites on attending a "BIG RACE EVENT" in ya'lls neck of the woods... after I completed my entry... paid for my plane ticket... and shipped my boat off to Andy... a few days after Andy told me that the contest director suggested that I shouldn't come because everybody started dropping out at the last minute...

...the kicker is... I even waited til the last minute to enter.

Soooooo...

Is this All Talk???

If so... I got better things to do...

...Like plan my own Run-What-You-Brung...
One Class... One Winner...
Gas, Electric, Nitro, Steam, Wind... Don't Matter...
Mono, Cat, Rigger, Canard, Hydroplane, Tunnell Hull... Bring It.

Here on the West Coast... February 7th and 8th
At either Kaiser Cove, Lake Minden, or hopefully a new spot in
Berkeley just across the bridge from San Francisco.

I like the Rolex idea too... And I got a jeweler already in the back pocket... Whole sale jeweler at that.
