So what is the best 1/8 scale motor these days

Mac 67, K67 or Green head CMB would be my pics - not in any order of preference there though....

what about wood Vs fiberglass what one has the most grunt for a heavy boat

Most grunt - Picco 67EXR - but they break

The green head CMB's are very popular down here.....

By the way, all scale boats are heavy!!! Keeps them on the water!

The Kalistratov .67's are supposed to be the hot engine on the West Coast. I haven't seen any of them around here yet. I've got the only "K" motor that I've seen, a K-45. When it's dialed, it's quick!

The K is nice but I'm still partial t my Gold Head CMB's.

Its a hell of a motor.

That's exactly why I use the CMB gold head. They run, period.
