    Gear Drive Questions

I agree with Doug. That prop is a SAW prop and will burn up that motor for sure.

    How to hit 55mph?

Larry Larson hit 43 mph using a ss1 700 motor in lsh class at the saw. I think he took the same hull with a b50 7L on 12 cells to 63 mph a 20 mph jump. I know that neither of these are in a mono hull but all the calculations do is give you an idea of what is possible. You need to try it and...

COOL BEANS! This place is starting to rock!

The Aveox is a 4 pole motor and will not turn as many rpms as a Hacker. This may not matter in oval racing but surely does in just outright SAW speed.

    BL Motors and Controllers

Andrew said LSH and in this class the 700 is a spec motor. All racers are running a 700. No one is saying you would be competitive raceing a 700 against a plett or mega motor

Just my View from the Sidelines

Patrick got 51 mph out of the ferite magnets if that is not fast enough then what would be. In most oval racing you are not going 51 mph now. It is alot easier to throw in more cells then to tweak your motor and esc to go faster. That is why higher cell classes are more poplular.

Just my View from the Sidelines

Paul the fast boats were using Schultz controllers. They are the only ones making a 170 amp controller but at $500 a pop ouch! Tim did his 100 mph pass with a 99 amp hacker controller and a hacker 8xl motor. He had burnt his 77 amp Hacker controller. This is not saying Hacker controllers are...

    Interesting statement....

Kevin from what I have read here you are the one saying that Dan and Eddith are pushing stuff on RRH which is not true. Yes there is alot of selling done on that site under the guise of advice so know who you are talking too. Not everyone giving advice over there is trying to sell you...

    Interesting statement....

Dan has never tried to sell me anything what is it that he sells. Eddieh I thought was a hobbiest selling some hardware that he makes. I agree too many people on the RRH site trying to sell you. If you know who is recommending too you, even if they sell the info can be unbiased. Chris Fine...

    LiPoly and why.....

Steve this is really not that expensive when you consider it replaces 3 12 cell packs for the same run time.

    LiPoly and why.....

This sounds good for sport running about 20 minutes at 30 mph in my offshore boat. What about racing when can you pull higher amps.

Electric straightlines in California this weekend

Doug you are right about the ground effects built into this hull. Arnie designed it and I am sure he would be glad to share the design parameters with you. He described the wings in the back and the shape of the tub and what effects he was designing for. I believe he hit his design dead on...

    Interesting statement....

This is the electric forum so yes I meant electric. Dick Crowe was driving the hull built by Don when he went 87 mph the first over 80 in electrics. He was also driving this hull when it went 94 mph the first over 90 then Joerg went 102 mph. If you look at the european records they are not...

    Hacker questions

The voltage is determined by the size of the motor and the number of winds similar to brushed motors. The controllers seem to be the sticking point with a 170 amp model the biggest available right now. Patrick Mcdonald was pulling 90 amps on 4 cells in his 51 mph record on a brushed motor.

    Interesting statement....

Steve ok you don't like Don but come on. He designed and built the first rigger to go over 80 mph and 90 mph. He was the first to import the Lehner motors for boat racing he carries a line of stainless props and is coming out with a new line of hardware. He supports numerous races including...

    Hacker questions

Andrew how can you have torque at 0 rpm. An example of the rpm's of brushless motors, in the 122 mph pass Joreg's motor was turning over 48,000 rpm.

    Electric beats Nitro record

Doug how are the nitro guys taking it. It was on the nitro course with the nitro guys doing the timming. The nitro guys have faster passes but not backed up runs. Joreg had a bigger motor and was shooting for a 126 mph when we just ran out of light. Next year he could be in the 130's.

    Electric beats Nitro record

Sure Steve here it is. It is a 6 double Big Jim arm in a P-94 can and endbell setup, powered by GP3300's through an RC-Hydro's ESC. The prop is a 1735. The hull is a custom built carbon fiber hull. Patrick told me he tried the smaller 1950 cells but they could just not put out the amps of the...

    Electric beats Nitro record

I cann't believe there is not one post on here about the 120.7 mph record run at the SAW in LA over the weekend. Joreg running a 8 turn Lehner 2250 on 32 cells in his custom designed hull took the fastest RC boat record from the nitro guys. He was running on the same course as the nitro guys...

So this is where everyone went

Steve I know you sell batteries and they are good ones but when someone asks a question about batteries you give them an answer not a sales pitch. When there is a question on esc's Andy gives you answers without the sales pitch. Dick is always free with his advice and he is not in the business...

So this is where everyone went

I just came over to this site and it is a breath of fresh air. I see all the familiar names of people who where helpful in getting me started in FE. On the other board I always feel like someone is trying to sell me something instead of being helpful. Steve the info on batteries is great and...
