How to Make a Plug for a Fiberglass Mold

No need to spend 2 or three years on the project. Use a spray putty on the plug and rub down with wet and dry paper (fine). Use a good release agent, there are many on the market that are far better the slip wax. Bear in mind if you only anticipate using the mould once or twice. It may be easier...

    geared engine

A while back some FSRV boaters experimented with variable length tuned pipes. At low revs the pipe length was increased and them reduced as the engine revs rose. This solution may increase torque at low revs enabling a larger prop to be used. Mike Broad

    Vacuum Bagging

I would have thought that because rubbish (garbage) bags are opaque it would make the job more difficult. A good material to use for bagging is PVC damp course membrane sheet available from a builders merchant, not too thick. The open seams can be stuck together with commercial silicon sealant...

    Roller Bearing for 90 CMB

It's just a bog standard bearing, available from any bearing supplier. They are not very expensive either. Mike Broad

    Fiberglass repair question........

I often use Masking tape to hold the seam together, make sure the the two surfaces to be joined are abraided with coarse sandpaper and then thoroughly cleaned with acetone or similar.

    CMB 90/91RS questions

No one mentioned that the crank case bolts can be modified to fit! Mike Broad p.s. I believe the induction discs are the same

Crankvolume , how much is it related to everything ?

It's quite interesting to note that the MAC engines have a relatively large crankcase volume and large flat topped transfer ports. This seems to mirror recent thinking in the full size engine world, where the tuned pipe creates most of the pumping action in the engine, and then stuffs the fuel...

    How is your driving?

I don't know. I have yet to put one of those stickers on the back of my boat. The scariest is the one that asks other road users "How am I driving ?" . If the driver doesn't know how are we supposed to? By the way I recon I'm a 10 Mike Broad

    Prop speed?

I have tried my mono 36" long with a Valvola 21 on both 1:5 and 2:1 reduction and have so far found 1;5 and a x447 3 blade prop to be the best combination. Although I think there is more to come ! The MAC 21 straight drive with an X440 3 in my mono at the moment appears as fast as the geared...

    Prop Shop props

Prop shop props don't take long to get from England. They take a long time to get period. It's not just because you're far away. I recon that Simon sometimes is even further away. With the Faries! Mike Broad

    All-In-One Starting Stand Plans

Great! Built it, unfortunately it was too small. Only later did I realise that the dimensions were Imperial. Nice cigar stand though! Mike Broad ;)

This is one from Britain:- Hydros are for failed multi boat racers. Just to let you know I've failed at both so far. Next stop Tug towing! Mike Broad

    Float Chamber

The problem I have found using a float chamber with a MAC 21 in my mono, is that I was unable to supply enough fuel to the motor. The carb seems to be too large to suck the fuel. I suppose you could put a smaller carb on the motor to increase the suck but it would probably reduce the engine's...

    Caught by secret camera

The boat Dave Marles did not want you to see (yet)! Spotted at a hitherto secret test lake in deepest darkest England. This boat is believed to feature all wood construction and a twin cylinder motor. Our reporter was physically ejected several large men wearing boiler suits and balaclavas...

I'd have thought Offshore meant offshore, rather that buzzing round the same inshore lake used for FSRV and FSRH (hydros). Mike Broad

    CMB90 carby mods

I think this thread has lost the plot. The original question was about fuel starvation at full throttle. Dave Marles made a valid point. I know of at least one boater that has trashed an engine, rebuilt it and had further problems only to find that it was because the carburettor spray bar was...
