    1/8th Scale 2015 U-7, my first build.

The boat has a combo of graphics, part from Wesley’s Custom Graphics and part from Thunderboat Graphics. I don’t have any interior pics, I’ll have to take a couple when I get a chance.

Thank you. It was a lot of work but very enjoyable. It’s a race boat so yeah plenty of pics! Lol.

Thanks Dave. Bill don’t show any on the site. I’ve sent him an email to see what he knows so we’ll see. He’ll hook me up if he can, Bill is awesome.

Radio antenna for moder hydro cockpit.

Does anyone have a source for the small white radio antenna that goes in top of the cockpit on a modern hydro?

Spot cut and buff orange peel

Great explanation! Thank you for the help. 95% of the boat I could not ask for a better finish. The other 5% is keeping me up at night…

Spot cut and buff orange peel

Any tips or pitfalls to watch for besides watch the edges and decals? Did you use a buffer or do it by hand?

Spot cut and buff orange peel

Has anyone successfully sanded and polished out orange peel in clear coat in just a couple spots without having to sand and buff the hole boat?

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

    I understand.

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

My thoughts were to add some of the ballast to move the CG forward to about 3” and finish the boat and test and balance it from there. You are right, I have no idea what and where my weight will be or the exact CG the boat wants. Thanks for taking time to teach me, obviously my first build so...

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

Great advice by the way, thank you for that.

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

I understand. Really good explanation. I’m building a T-5 hull. I’ve got everything built, sealed (interior) and installed except I still need to glue the decks on. I want to get the balance point close as possible. The CG of the boat setting like this is 4” behind the sponson transom...

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

I understand. Really good explanation. I’m building a T-5 hull. I’ve got everything built, sealed (interior), and installed except I still need to glue the decks on. I want to get the ballast in before I deck it.

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

Does anyone use a formula for CG such as 88-90% of after plane length? Seems like most go straight to the 2” behind the sponson transoms for a starting point.

    Hydroplane C/G Starting Point

The “generally 1.5”-2” is that the center of the turn fin or the leading edge?

    Left side weight

Is there a rule of thumb or percentage to shoot for on left side vs right side balance centerline on a hydro? I understand having more weight left of center to counter prop torque but how much is a good starting point?

Thanks for the info. Oddly enough I’m accidentally pretty close to all three of these dimensions. Just my luck it’s the wrong hull…
