I did read the webpage, before I included a link to it. I was respectful of their statement and did not copy their web page, I only provided a link to others in this community to go too and read for their personal benefit. I guess I will go crawl back under the rock I came from.

    Crankshaft Balancing

Brad, It might be a good idea, but not too sure about my ambitions to build another 54 crankshafts. The trial and error method will kill me, so I'll keep searching. While it may and I underscore the word may not be technically achievable to balance a single cylinder engine, I still believe...

    Crankshaft Balancing

Brad, I think Dave was referring to the fact that the formula you used doesn't add back the bottom have of the rod to 55 or 60% of the top half of the rod and piston, pin and clips for the target weight for the bob weight. Atleast that is the only difference I see between the two formula's...

    Crankshaft Balancing

Lets use 0 degrees for the crankpin for the purposes of this discussion. If you have an equal mass at 0 degrees and 180 degrees (using whatever method of balancing [let say 55 or 60%]) and then you have a different mass at 90 and 270 due to the design of the crank (and most cranks are like...

    Crankshaft Balancing

This doesn't address side to side balance. And while it may work very well for 15cc and smaller engines, it does not work on our 25.7cc gas engine. We have actually tried this method. I believe that was our version 3 crank, currently I'm on version 19 and counting.

I have posted a couple of times on rcboat.com on this subject.

    Crankshaft Balancing

I would be interested to hear what fellow engine nuts think or know about balancing a single cylinder engine. Anyone work with balancing a crank both in the up and down stroke, but also side to side. Maybe a dampener, maybe harmonics. Let the ideas begin.

Bored at Work 2004.... .12 rigger

Should help with launch, but after you are up on plane the waterline should be below hub of prop. One thing to consider is rough water, might disturb water in front of the prop from bouncing. We have had that problem with a center sponson before.

Does anyone know the standard ignition map for the zehoah ignition system. I believe it starts at 20 degrees advance and then starts a linear retardation, but not sure where it goes exactly.

Lohring, Do you know how many degrees the timing is advanced? We have tried to advance timing by 5 degrees and the engine does not like it at all.
