i suspect i may have some gunk in my sullivan flex tank , what is a good cleaning procedure ?

If you are getting trash in the filters you may just want to re- plumb the tank and install a new stopper as well . Take a small piece of a rag , t- shirt etc not paper towel , and douse it with carb cleaner and mop it around the inside of the tank with a ball driver , screwdriver etc to clean the walls of the tank .
