I Grew up in the Pacific NorthWest, some would argue the birth place of Hydroplane boat racing sport.I grew up on lake Washington in Seattle and had always knew when time trials were to start as I could hear the loud roar of the piston powered thunder boats from miles away and would be the first in the neighborhood to reach The Stan Sayers pits on Lake Washington the host for the Seattle gold Cup later renamed Sea Fair. The Year  I Think was 1973, but the event was unforgettable. One spring Day I heard the sound of a thunder boat firing up, I grabbed my bike and headed for the pits (our name for where they launch these powerful boats for test and tune) arriving on the top of the hill over looking the lake I could see one boat moored, one truck, one trailer and a crane. As I got closer I could see The pits were open, no one to stop me from getting really close to the action. as I arrived I could see it was the Atlas Van lines and nun other then Bill Muncey and his pit crew, They were having problems I could tell and didn't really have time to answer the 15 million questions I was throwing at them as well as trying to keep me off the boat, finally he said to me (get away from me kid you bother me) he didn't realize how many times I shouted at my brother(a Budweiser fan) and screamed at the TV Go-Muncey-Go!!! He couldn't have.. I could tell he wasn't happy but it wasn't really with me. He would always be my favorite driver but would loose my support when it came down to it once the( Winged wonder) was Born and unveiled as the Pay-n-Pak with George Henley at the helm, from then on it didn't matter who drove that boat, that was who I wanted to win. It wasn't until Dave Heerensperger sold The Pay-N-Pak team to Bill Muncey did the best of both worlds come together for me. My first (Recreational Toy) Boat was a piece of 1/4 / 3/8 thick plywood cut into the shape of the Pay-n-Pak including rear stabilizer wings a piece of 2x4 for the engine and a waxed botton to allow for maximum length of distance when slid on the side walk. We raced these around the block, sometimes getting as much as 3/4 of a block in distance in one throw, first one around the block wins the Gold Cup. My first remote control Boat was the dumas 1/8 Scale 82 Atlas Van lines kit the first model boat I ever built needless to say I wish I would have had help, this kit was a .67 model but I thought bigger is better so I put an OS .81VR in it  Next would be a Barracuda originally designed for electrics I put an OPS .67 in it again bigger is better so I thought, again I wish I would have had help. In the process I came across a dumas Kit yeah! The one I have wanted all my life The Pay-n-Pak the winged wonder 1/8 Scale. I have been guarding this kit for over 12 years (Not to mention a life time of dreams) moving it from hiding spot to hiding spot until I actually learn how to build a boat in the mean time Im shopping for 1/8 scale boats in as nice a shape as possible, but have decided this year im going to get three of them in the water..Living in Alaska Im already behind schedule some how I'll make up time just like all the other great boat owner/driver/builders always do!!

As a friend of mine(Tim Penny) has mentioned already Many thanks to all of you that have contributed to Internal Waters your ideas, your hard lessons learned and your connections on where to find that hard to find stuff that keeps us all closing in on that one day when we make the next dream come true.. It is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
