I've been told by several people to convert it to surface drive for more speed, and I've already fiberglassed the hole I had cut for the stuffing tube to run sub-surface. I'll see how it runs with a surface prop, I guess I could always go back to sub-surface if I want.

I was going to ask if I should use a teflon tube. I have one in there now. What is the reason to use or not use one? If I'm running a 3/16" shaft, what size tube should I buy?

Thanks for all of your replies! The shaft did not slip from the collet, it's still where I set it. I do think that it whipped like someone said, probably from not being balanced, and I did have the collet a bit far away. There's probably an inch from where the picture ends to the collet...

Mine must be an older version? It only as the fuel inlet fitting on that side of the carb. So, the hex on the throttle linkage side of the carb is for low speed mixture, correct? What is the set screw and nut on top of the carb for? I do have a remote needle that I used on my old K&B that...
