    Rigger question...

Ok, I may be taking too simplistic a view of this but let me see if I understand the question.......Let's assume that a surfacing , rotating prop will tend to push the rear of the boat to the left. The moment upon which this force is exerted is the very back of the strut, and anything forward of...

    Rigger question...

Here is a boat using that idea. I don't think it's done and tested yet, but it should be pretty interesting: http://p086.ezboard.com/fjimsrcboatdockfrm...icID=3865.topic . At this point, the sponsons don't steer, but they are adjustable, and suspended. B)

    bearing maintence

One of my favorite sayings is "There are 2 sides to every story.......and the truth is generally somewhere in the middle." Differing opinions can exist in the same thread, as long as people don't feel the need to try to discredit anyone with a opinion differing from theirs. With tolerance of the...

    bearing maintence

Going back to your first post on this thread Tom..... I couldn't agree more. The best cure for this is a little moderator editing and/or deleting posts. It doesn't take too long for folks to realize what can and will be tolarated and what will not. I participate heavily on another boating forum...

Good idea. This would be an excellent mechanism for building a permanant knowledge base. B)

    bearing maintence

Well, here's another vote for a read only FAQ with an edited version of the bearing maintenance thread, pinned for all to learn from. Jim's (JRCBD) has a section like that, and you can spend weeks trying to absorb all the great info contained there. Some other good candidates would be the 100+...

    motor mod question.

What happens is the rough surface keeps the layer of air molecules closest to it tumbling, and any raw fuel that gets near the walls gets caught up in this turbulent layer and is atomized. I use 80 or 60 grit stones or sandpaper rolls on car and boat intakes and crankcase or heads, whichever...

    motor mod question.

I'm no small engine guru, but I've done a lot of porting in my years as an automotive technician, mostly on hot street andrace cars, and a few fullsize outboards. My opinion is that cranks and rotating stuff needs to be flowed and polished and stationary intake surfaces should be slightly rough...

    Tight Piston, any suggestions??

I'm not a nitro or small motor guru by any means, but it seems that there must be some heat involved to get a good final fit. After all, there will be heat when it's running, which will change both piston and bore dimensions. Just my 2 cents worth(maybe only 1.5 due to inflation, )...

    just a litlle two stroke!!!

Nitrous can make most any motor think it's twice the size it really is. ;)

    namba rules

Kewl, I started messing around again here right at New Years. Dragged my ole Dumas Scarab out and figured out what it is, and put a gas Homie motor in it. Bought a used and abused SprintCat hull at the WinterNats for my next project. Not sure what motor I'm going to do in that one yet. I've got...
