Im back at it and looking a lot harder at motor installation and placement. I am leaning towards having the batteries up in the nose. Can anyone give me the dimensions and weight of two 4s packs? All I have here is a 2s pack out of my sons 1/10 scale car.
Also had a rear wing bracket made and...
Thanks for the info!! Is this the charger you picked up?

Regarding the 8s batteries. Is that one 8s or two 4s? I would rather run a single battery over having to use multiple.
Ok, Been working on my shopping list for the remaining parts and equipment I need.
Turbine Tube (54mm) Fiberglass Airframe Tubes | Mach 1 Rocketry
Servo Mount: Servo Mount: Stand Up for Standard Size Servo | Offshore Electrics
Battery Tray: Carbon Fiber Battery Trays | Offshore Electrics...
Oh yeah!!! that is an important one... I got the hull partially built and the turn fin bracket was already installed. Just need to test fit and make sure the hardware I have will work.
I am going to be putting together a list of what "I think I need" as far as radio gear, servo, battery and...
Looking for this kit or even just the main bracket. RC Boat Co has been out of this for a long time and its unclear when it will be available. I understand this can be done other ways...
Thanks for the thoughtful list. I might be putting the cart before the horse a bit here. I still need to buy quite a few things. Radio gear, servo and batteries (charger too). Kind of down to the expensive bits as far as I can tell.
I haven't set the motor location yet since I was thinking that...
Trimmed uo the front wings and taped them into place, the fit isnt perfect on one of them so might have to build up one end with a small scrap of wood.
Any sort of checklist I should be thinking about before sealing/epoxying the skins? I have foam for flotation.
So I have the fiberglass front wings from RC Boat Company. They fit well but one will need to be trimmed. I have them epoxied together and ready to install but not sure if I need anything beyond that.
Second side was much better had an idea to make a template and used a small ball shaped burr on my dremel. Came out near perfect.
Adding ghe second skin really makes it start looking like a hydro. Definitely a turning point in the project. Still a bit of sanding to go.
I recently watched...
Been a bit but decided to work on the boat today. Finished shaping the cowling to match the contour of the hull then took a stab at cutting out one of the top skins. Made the hole a bit too big for the wing mount but I can fill that with some thickened epoxy.
Since mine will be electric I was thinking the batteries would be forward into that section as I have seen on a few boats. Don't really know where else they would go. So I think some sort of battery tray with straps would be necessary so they don't flop around.
Thanks! These pics are super helpful. The cowling seems like one of those jobs that is more art than science.
I have three pieces to mine, the nose, the turbine inlet and a turbine tray. I was thinking about epoxying the nose section and the turbine inlet together so its smooth. Then will use...
