Hello all

What is the best recommended lubricant to put in the flex shaft oilers? I've never ran one so I'm just trying to get updated.

You can private message me if you like if you don't want to make your private thoughts on the matter publicly known.

Hey Ken,

I use Mercury Gear Lube +

Have been using it for quit some time now with great results.

Couple of words of advice, put your tube as far back away from the collet side of your shaft log. And only drill a 1/16th hole in your shaft log to drip the lube into the shaft to avoid the big mess

I use chain saw bar oil, no flex shaft failures in over 6 years. Same for inboard or outboard.

Ken,

They chris and his father Steve make the Blackbird 21.

We used STP mixed with 90 weight bar oil.

Castor works very well, try Bean Oil from Klotz it is great.

The only problem with castor is it does make some radio box seals swell up.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

Castor does not affect any seal I have used.I know is does not effect the ones I sell. I have tested them in all known lubricants used by boaters, with no known effects

Castor also cleans up easier than mineral oils

Get with Walt Barney (tank 4 U) he'll have what you need.

I use caster because I use it in blending my fuel.

Where are you from?

Are you going to hobart?
