Sg style cranks I am seeing a lot more of, I know that they are used for rc cars to hold the fly wheel and clutch, but why are they being used for boats now? Also how does one make use the the Sg style cranks in a boat? There is no thread for the drive collet to attach to?

Would there be an advantage with a Sg crank shaft?

Baxter,

Those are converted car engines with a water jacket on them.. My 14.5mm crank Novarossi 35+ also has a SG crank, the 14mm version of the engine uses the standard threaded crank shaft. Cut the unthreaded stub off with a dremel, and machine a standard marine flywheel to allow the collet to reach the threads or use a thinner flywheel. Pm me your email addy and I will send you pics of the two flywheels I have for my 35+.
