receiver battery packs......

what kind of receiver packs do folks use these days in their:
20 hydros
sport 20s
sport 40s
60 hydros??
I have heard of life batteries, and know nothing about them...can someone clue me in, and what kind of charger/ charge rate to use for them??

LiFe packs are lithium and, believe it or not, iron. As far as chargers, like any other kind of pack, you need to get one that will match the pack chemistry.
Before the merger, I bought a LiFesource 6.6 pack that I use in one of my transmitters and a matching LiFesource charger that is good for 1-3S and have it set for 2.5 amps. Works well in that application as I've only charged it once in the time I've had it. That's not saying much since I've only run the boat once or twice but, the fact that the pack has held a charge that long has to say something about them

Been using these (or similar) for years:

Onyx NiMH 6.0V 1600mAh 2/3A Flat Receiver Universal Plg

Cycle test them every spring, run them five years and replace.
