You have a prop that is old but balanced. The shine on it has dulled over the years. If you polish it can you now tip it out of balance?

Yes you can knock it out of balance, if the prop is in good shape do not try to polish it ,the dull finish will not hurt the prop

Dip your props in Tarnex avil. at Walmart and hrdwr. stores also Lowes. Dip and rinse. That's it, no polishing.
 
I've always used good ol' Tabasco sauce. It just removes the tarnish and oil. I highly doubt if it will effect the balance. If you"re feeling pessimistic, splash some on an old penny for a few seconds. You will see that it works great!
