Can someone please explain (again) to me the Octura numbering system. I understand the new ABC one eg 2514 is a 2.5inch diameter prop with a pitch ratio of 1.4 inches. But Octura makes 1400 series, 1900, series, 1600 series etc., are they just leading their numbering system with the pitch ratio followed by the diameter in millimeters? Also I get that the X series are considered non lifting and the 1400 are lifting but what are the 1600-1900 etc and why. I appreciate any help on this voodoo.. Tony J

Octura xyze means

ze is the diameter in milimeter ans xy give you the ratio pitch to diameter

1945 means diameter 45 and pitch ratio of 1,9

there is a trick :

X445 means diameter 45 and ratio of 1,4

Y545 means diameter 45 and ratio of 1,5

X645 means diameter 45 and ratio of 1,6

cheers

Some more explanation :

12 are low lift ideal for submerged drive

X4 are medium lift general purpose props

M4 are like X4 but with the ears removed to unload the prop

Y are like X series but have 10% more pitch

X5 are general all purpose med lift prop

X6 are higher lift than X4 and suitable for surface/semi surface use

14 are moderatley high lift for hydros and deep V's

16 are high lift props for riggers and hydro's

17 are the highest lift prop for riggers and outboards

P7 are similar to 17 series but more rake and less lift

19 are high lift for riggers and hydro's

V9 are moderate lift suitable for riggers, mono's and cat

20 are moderatley high lift suitable for riggers

21 are high lift for riggers and hydro's

22 are high lift surface drive only good straight line speed

Pierre,

you have the numbers right but that is not what the letters mean.

check HendricX post.

The ABC numbering system is just backwards or Octura's, mostly to avoid confusion between the two companies so if I said 1667 you'd know it's an Octura but if I sais 6716 then you'd know it's an ABC. I don't know if ABC makes a 6716 but it's just to show you how it works.

You don't seem to have a prop problem though Tony as you're always in the front if not on somebodies transom!
