Hi all,

This is my first tunnel hull and I would appreciate your input.

I'm in the process of finishing a Prather "32" Racing Tunnel" with a stock K&B 7.5cc outboard and would like to hear what you all are using for your steering servo/s? Should I run one or two; quarter scale or standard size; metal or plastic gears?

Thanks,

Don

I ended up buying one 1/4 scale Hitec HS-755MG. I've seen this particular servo installed by boat manufactures on 45" plus gas hulls.

Here's the specs:

Metal geared

Dual ball bearing output spline

Water and dust tight

Speed: .28 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .23 sec/60° @ 6V

Torque: 166.64 oz in @ 4.8V, 199.97 oz in @ 6V

I think for the money ($39.99) I made a good choice.

Jerry,

I'd be interested in hearing what you're using for steering servo/s in your tunnel hulls?

Just checked - 11cc Tunnel Futaba S3302 1/4 Scale, 7.5 Tunnel S9152 Digital, 3.5 Tunnel S9350 Digital. I'm a sponsored Futaba Marine Racer, so obviously I'm biased. However, a 1/4 Scale servo on a 5 cell rx pack will provide all the power needed for a 7.5 hull.

Save yourself some space and up to over 2oz. of weight and use a standard size servo.

JR 8711 320in.oz. 2.24oz

Hitec 5955 333in.oz. 2.18oz

The Futaba 3301 weighs 3.6oz and the 5301 4.4oz and again, they are 1/4 scale big.

I got the Hitec all titanium gear servo, Let me tell you, ill never go back to analog ever. Digital servos rock! 333OZ Tq

With the Nomadio react radio and this servo, it feels smooth as butter very precise and strong.
