Hi im spraying Krylon #41315 all purpose white primer #1601 gloss black and #41806 sun yellow with room temp 75-80 f the can says dry to handle in 1 hr my ? how long should i wait before sanding the primer and masking over the primer ? Once the paint is sprayed how long before masking on top of paint ? Regards Andris Golts.

I'd recommend 24 hours @ 70* at the very least. Most fast dry paints dry from the top down making the final cure & adhesion the last part of the drying process. ;)

Hi Andris,

As far as primer goes I start working with it in 20 minutes. As for color coats it depends on how happy you get on the trigger. I lay down several very light coats and wait 15 to 20 minutes between coats. With Krylon I can do a 2 or 3 color paint job in one day. I do let the paint sit a few days before clear coating if I use it, most of the time I don't bother with clear.

Paul.

I'm late for the party, but one thing to watch for with Krylon is humidity.

Above 70%, there's a good chance you'll get some orange peel.
