Hi!

Anyone have the formula or way for creation of mixed heats?

Let's say that there are fifteen boats starting in a class. That means that we have to divide the heats since you can't start 15 boats in one heat.

But how to make it fair so that you meet all other boats and preferably alter lanes as well?

Or is it just random?

-True Randomizer during Heat Build to sort Contestants without predjdice or freqency conflict

One software that does it by (true) random.

Anyone else?

Please don't refer to software, should have mentioned that.

We use a pretty simple method that most folks like. We use ping pong balls with heat designations (A, B, C, etc.) printed on a ball. You use as many balls as you have boats to divide. If you need two heats, you mix A and B balls equally for the boat total. Then have someone draw balls from a bag or bowl for each entrant and you have the mix.

By far the best method I have seen is what is used at the Northern Nats by Robin Hallam.

Not sure how the first heats are drawn up but after one round all the boats are group by points , so the top six are in one heat the next six are in another and so on for each class.

This is done after every round , the great thing about this format is the top boats are always racing against each other so theres no free rides.

Makes for some very exciting racing .

sounds kidda like the a,b,c,d mains we used for r/c car racing and also dirt bike racing. mike.

Guess that (true) randomize, hat, ping pong balls and by points are as close as we get to a fair mixing.

Thank's for your input.
