2014 NW Scale Hydroplane Race

The 11th Annual Northwest Scale Hydroplane Championship is taking place October 11th and 12th at Twin Lakes Park in Arlington Washington. Currently we are planning on having open water for testing on Friday afternoon October 10th. There will be very little time for testing on race days so please take advantage of Fridays open water.

This year we will be running four classes of Scale Hydroplanes, Gas Scale Hydro, 1/8 Scale Nitro, 1/8 Scale Electric and 1/7 Scale Electric. We will also be running the NAMBA Classic Thunderboat class. If you have any questions about the race or need to know if your boat will be legal in its respective class please contact me at [email protected] or through the Pacific NW Thunderboat website at www.pnwta.org

Race Schedule:

Friday Afternoon - Open Water

Saturday - 1/7 Scale Electric will run all preliminary and final heats - Gas Scale, 1/8 Scale Nitro, 1/8 Scale Electric will run three or four preliminary heats

Sunday - Classic Thunderboats will run all preliminary and final heats - Gas Scale, 1/8 Scale Nitro and 1/8 Scale Electric will run the rest of their preliminary heats and all finals.

Get your butt back here Mike. You know you want to. Greg and I will buy the adult beverages.

Big thanks to Marty for putting on an awesome race and thanks to Lohring and Kelly for giving me a boat to drive!

I have videos of some of the heats that will be posted shortly.

I'm glad you had fun. Round nose boats are a lot harder to race than modern boats. Speed is just the beginning. See you at the 2 laps.

Did I get right, the CRAWL and everybody was over!!! Great video

All boats jumped but the Miller but it died in the front straight at the start and that happened to fast to call it the lead boat. Thanks to Kelly Groul who brought something to the race announcers attention after the race was completed. Thankfully, it did not change the outcome of the race but the race announcer messed up. That person being me and I do aplologize for that. If you know the rules of the race, you might be able to catch what it was.

What I find interesting is that none of the racers caught it. Either way, it was a great weekend.

Kelly,

that is what happens when the racers listen more closely to the race announcer rather than their pit man. Excellant catch by you.

Thanks,

Al Waters

What I get from this???? They all jumped the start, cept one but he died, Al announces they all owe 6 laps, when they all SHOULD have done 7.

EVERY one quit racing after 6,,, they all had another lap to finish,,,,, Just my guess though
